TVonics helps Whitehaven residents through Digital Switchover

British manufacturer launches exclusive offer which will help local residents reduce the cost of converting their homes to digital

10th October 2007, Whitehaven, Cumbria – As the people of Whitehaven and Copeland district see their current analogue TV products becoming redundant, British digital television devices manufacturer, TVonics, has today announced a deal giving residents a discount of nearly 40% on a package of products worth nearly £300. The offer, available to the first 200 customers, represents a saving of £100.00 on what the products would cost if bought separately, making the package ideal for those wishing to convert all the TV’s in their home. Those Whitehaven residents not in the first 200 will still be entitled to a discount of 15% on any TVonics products they purchase.

Available exclusively to Whitehaven residents, the £189.99 offer price consists of two stylish PRISM set-top boxes and one eco-friendly TVonics digital video recorder, the DVR-FP250. Local residents are able to redeem this offer by visiting the TVonics website www.tvonics.com/whitehaven

One of the first digital video recorders to receive Freeview Playback accreditation, the TVonics DVR-FP250 provides viewers with access to Freeview’s range of channels whilst allowing users to pause, rewind and record live television, making it a superior replacement for old fashioned video cassette recorders when the digital switchover happens. The PRISM set top box allows users to receive Freeview’s 40 free-to-air channels and radio stations. Like all TVonics products, the PRISM and DVR-FP250 carry the Digital Tick logo, guaranteeing their operation after digital switchover. Both products are compatible with all existing television sets and are simply connected to the TV using a SCART cable.

TVonics is the designer and manufacturer of the set-top boxes provided to Whitehaven and Copeland residents eligible for support under the government’s Targeted Help Scheme, created to aid the elderly and vulnerable through the process of digital switchover. The support scheme provides equipment to convert one TV set - and helps with its installation and follow-up support - to people aged 75 years and over and people with significant disabilities. Through the scheme, the TVonics-designed boxes will ensure the process of the digital switchover is as seamless as possible, enabling as many Whitehaven residents as possible to enjoy the benefits of digital television.

Whitehaven, and the surrounding Copeland district, are the first areas in the UK to have their analogue signal replaced with a digital signal, in a process due to finish in London in 2012. In addition to the increased range of channels, digital switchover will mean better picture and sound quality for viewers, with less interference.

“We are delighted to announce this exclusive offer for the residents of Whitehaven and Copeland district as the promotion will reduce the cost and fuss for people as they prepare their homes for switchover,” said Paul Fellows, Founder and CEO of TVonics, “Alongside our work with the Targeted Help Scheme, this deal demonstrates our commitment to helping facilitate the UK’s switch to digital. By bringing easy-to-use, energy efficient products to market, we hope to make the process of the digital switchover as simple as possible.”
