Does the same as Sky without paying an exorbitant monthly fee.

I now have two DTR-Z250s and also have one of the previous model (single record only and no "Season Pass")

Very useful for when I have to leave the sitting room to avoid X Factor/Strictly and the other programmes my wife's obsessed with and which I believe are a canker on society ;>)


Marked down on value as I think it's a touch too expensive and features as I think it could have a USB connection and HDMi output.

My only criticism is that the fast forward is too slow on the first speed and too fast on the second. A minor niggle only.

Have not got a bad word to say about this great Box of tricks.
I chose it because of reviews, looks and the fact it's British made and I'm not disappointed.
It does everything you need it to do and more.
Very simple to install and understand. I was using all of the functions within minutes of installation.

I have had this digital video recorder for a week now. It has revolutionised our TV watching! The instructions for set up were very clear and I had the box working within five minutes. I was especially impressed with the way I could tune the handset to the Box and to the Toshiba TV I had bought. It is great being able to use the one handset for both machines. A sturdy machine and so easy to work. Well worth the £160. Can I suggest the Company go full out to get this model back 'in stock'? To start with I thought it was a little pricey but I am glad I spent a little more. Very easy to set up once I had pushed all the connections in properly, my fault. So easy to use and the Electronic Programming Guide is fab, makes recording programmes really easy. Money well spent. (Posted on 02/06/2009)

i have been eeming and aaming and nearly bought another make of dtr (humax9300t) but was put off by complaints about the noisy fan,then after further research I read about tvonics dtr-z250 all the reviews praised it up so I bought one it's so easy to set up I'm thinking of getting another for our bedroom tv. it's brilliant.

Being a novice to Digital TV Recorders i made the mistake of buying, lets say an inferior machine which went back to the shop twice, i did a bit of research on the DTR-Z250 and couldn`t find a bad review. It is brilliant. The Electronic programe guide is really well set out, it is really quiet, it records what you tell it to, the remote is a pleasure to use.
If you are thinking like i did at first is to buy a cheaper machine, DONT.
you get what you pay for and in this instance you get 110% quality.
