  Should you experience a problem with your Digital TV Recorder which can't be resolved using the table below, put the unit into Standby mode, then unplug completely from the mains. Leave the unit unplugged for at least one minute before connecting again to the mains.  
       
  Picture    
  Problem Possible cause/remedy  
 

No picture/distorted picture

  • Check the Digital TV Recorder is switched on.
  • Check the aerial is correctly connected to the unit.
  • Check all connections between the unit and TV.
  • Check the TV is displaying the correct AV input (refer to the instruction manual supplied with your TV for details).
  • Check the signal strength (refer to "Signal Strength" on page 27 of the Instruction Manual).
 
 

Black and white picture

  • Digital TV Recorder is set to output Y/C (S-Video) pictures and your TV does not support Y/C (S-Video). Change the "TV Out" setting to "RGB" or "CVBS" (refer to "TV Out" on page 24 of the Instruction Manual).
 
 

Picture is shown in 4 quarters and/or scrolling across the screen

  • Your TV was manufactured before the advent of widescreen and does not support the advanced control required to switch between 4:3 and 16:9 (widescreen) pictures. Change the "Picture Mode" setting to "4:3" (refer to page 24 of the Instruction Manual).
 
 

Very bright picture/white picture (when viewed on a Sony Bravia TV)

  • This is a known issue with certain Sony Bravia TVs. Change the "TV Out" setting to "Y/C" or "CVBS" (refer to "TV Out" on page 24 of the Instruction Manual). If this does not resolve the issue, please contact us.
 
  Sound    
  Problem Possible cause/remedy  
 

No sound

  • TV is muted.
  • Check the aerial is correctly connected to the unit.
  • Check all connections between the unit and TV/Hi-Fi or Surround Sound System.
 
  Power

No power

  • Check the power supply is correctly connected and the unit is switched on
 
 

Digital TV Recorder does not work

  • Check the remote control is in DVR mode (press the DTV button on the remote control).
 
  Digital TV Recorder takes a long time to switch on
  • The Hard Disk is nearly full. Delete some recordings.
 
 

The hard drive is unformatted. (A message appears suggesting that you turn the mains off. It may also ask you if you want to format the disk).

  • The Digital TV Recorder is not receiving enough power. Ensure that you are using the power supply provided with the Digital TV Recorder.
 
  Remote Control    
  Problem Possible cause/remedy  
 

Remote Control does not work

  • Check the remote control mode (for example, when trying to operate the Digital TV Recorder, press the DTV button on the remote control and retry).
  • If the remote control does not operate your TV or DVD player, even when the remote control has been set to the correct mode, re-programme the remote control (refer to page 28 of the Instruction Manual).
  • Replace the batteries.
 
  Recording    
  Problem Possible cause/remedy  
 

The hard drive is unformatted. (A message appears suggesting that you turn the mains off. It may also ask you if you want to format the disk).

  • The Digital TV Recorder is not receiving enough power. Ensure that you are using the power supply provided with the Digital TV Recorder.
 
 

Digital TV Recorder does not record

  • Put the Digital TV Recorder into Standby mode, then unplug completely from the mains. Leave the unit unplugged for at least one minute before re-connecting to the mains.
  • Use the Library menu to check if there is any free space on the Hard Disk. If there is little on no space, delete some recordings.
  • Reformat the Hard Disk. Please note that this should only be done as a last resort as formatting the Hard Disk will permanently delete all recordings.
 
  Electronic Programme Guide    
  Problem Possible cause/remedy  
 

Wrong date is displayed in the Electronic Programme Guide

  • Put the Digital TV Recorder into Standby mode, then unplug completely from the mains. Leave the unit unplugged for at least one minute before re-connecting to the mains.
  • If the date is still wrong after unplugging the Digital TV Recorder, this issue to due to transmitter maintenance. Please refer to this BBC page for transmitter maintenance information.

  Warranty Information    
 

In the event that your TVonics product needs guarantee service, please contact the dealer from whom it was purchased or our service department on 0870 80 30 551 (calls charged at national rate). In order to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience on your part, we suggest reading the instruction manual carefully before contacting the dealer or service department.

Your Guarantee.
By this consumer guarantee, TVonics guarantees the product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 (ONE) YEAR from the time of its original purchase. If during this period of guarantee the product proves defective due to improper materials or workmanship, TVonics will without charge for labour or parts, repair or (at TVonics' discretion) replace the product or its defective parts upon the terms and conditions set out below. TVonics reserves the right (at its sole discretion) to replace spare parts of defective products or to replace low cost products with either new or refurbished spare parts or products.

Conditions.
1. This guarantee will be granted only when the original invoice or sales receipt (indicating the date of purchase, product type and dealer’s name) is presented together with the defective product. TVonics reserves the right to refuse free-of-charge guarantee service if the above document cannot be presented or if the information contained in it is incomplete or illegible.
2. This guarantee will not reimburse nor cover the damage resulting from adaptations or adjustments which may be made to the product, without the prior written consent of TVonics, in order to conform to the national or local technical or safety standards in force in any country other than the ones for which the product was originally designed and manufactured.
3. This guarantee will not apply if the type or serial number on the product has been altered, deleted, removed or made illegible.
4. This guarantee covers none of the following:
a. Periodic maintenance and repair or replacement of parts due to normal wear and tear;
b. Any adaptation or changes to upgrade the product from its normal purpose as described in the instruction manual, without the prior written consent of TVonics;
c. Transport costs, home service, transport cost and all risks of transport relating directly or indirectly to the guarantee of the product;
d. Damage resulting from:
1. Misuse, including but not limited to (a) failure to use the product for its normal purpose or in accordance with TVonics’s instructions on the proper use and maintenance, and (b) installation or use of the product in a manner inconsistent with the technical or safety standards in force in the country where it is used and (S) improper or incorrect installation of software;
2. Repair done by non-authorized persons, or the customer himself;
3. Accidents, lightning, water, fire, improper ventilation or any cause beyond the control of TVonics;
4. Defects of the system into which this product is incorporated.
5. This guarantee does not affect the consumer’s statutory rights under applicable national laws in force, nor the consumer’s rights against the dealer arising from their sales/purchase contract.
