10th July 2008, Bridgend, South Wales – TVonics, the British digital TV switchover specialist, has launched the first 500GB FREEVIEW+TM Digital TV Recorder that can pause, record and rewind a massive 250 hours of FREEVIEWTM digital TV and radio. The TVonics DTR-Z500 features dual-recording which allows you to watch one programme whilst recording two different channels so you don’t need to ever miss a programme again!
Record and store as much telly as you want The standard memory in most digital television recorders offered by the likes of Sky+ and Virgin+ (typically around 80 or 160GB) means keen TV viewers need to delete old, and sometimes unwatched content in order to record more. Now, with the huge 500GB hard desk of the Tvonics DTR-Z500 Digital Recorder box, you could set the recorder in January and record and save the entire year’s series of Eastenders!
Live digital TV enhancements with FREEVIEW+TM As well as being able to plan ahead via the eight-day electronic programme guide, the FREEVIEW+TM box enhances your live viewing experience. FREEVIEW+TM enables you to record an entire series and takes care of rescheduling if a programme over runs. You can pause and rewind live programmes, skip 30 seconds ahead, and you can even watch two different programmes at the same time on the same screen! There’s also no need to wait for a programme to finish recording before you start watching it.
Energy-saving
While the Energy Savings Trust recommends digital TV recorders to be no more than 3W in standby mode, the TVonics DTR-Z500 Digital TV Recorder consumes a frugal 1.5W in stand-by mode and less than 15W when fully operational. In addition, an auto-standby feature automatically places the unit into standby mode while waiting for the next scheduled recording.

The TVonics DTR-Z500 FREEVIEW+TM box is the best in UK design. At just 18.5cm width x 23cm depth x 7cm height it is compact and significantly smaller than other digital TV recorder on the market. Fully featured subscription-free service
As a FREEVIEW+TM box it gives you access to over 40 digital TV channels plus over 20 digitl radio stations with no subscription and no contract. It is easy to set up – simply plug directly into your analogue or digital television. The latest generation in tuning technology, the DTR-Z500 automatically detects and stores all available television, radio and digital Teletext channels as soon as it is plugged in.
Cost and availability
The TVonics DTR-Z500 is expected to retail at around £229 and will be available from John Lewis and QVC and the TVonics online web store www.tvonics.com from the end of August 2008. There is also a ‘smaller’ 250GB version, the DTR-Z250, which offers up to an equally impressive 125 hours of recording and will retail for £199.
