TVonics showcases ultra energy efficient DVR-FP300 digital video recorder at IFA 2007 – features 160 hours recording time

Company to take success in British market across rest of Europe

31st August 2007, Berlin IFA Hall 23 Stand 102 – British digital television devices manufacturer TVonics is showcasing its DVR-FP300 digital video recorder – which enables users to record 160 hours of free-to-air (DVB-T) TV – at IFA, the world’s largest consumer electronics trade show. TVonics has enjoyed huge success in the UK and its previous models, the DVR-FP150 and DVR-FP250 have been in high demand from leading British electronics retailers including Comet, Argos, Tesco and Aldi. TVonics has now set its sights firmly on replicating this success across other European markets.

The DVR-FP300 is one of the most environmentally-friendly digital video recorders on the market today and uses just 3 watts in standby and less than 20 watts in full operational mode, thereby meeting the European code of conduct on energy consumption, compared with an industry average of 11 watts and 28 watts respectively. Programmes are stored internally on the large 160 hour recording capacity 320GB internal hard disk drive – meaning users no longer need to search for tapes or discs to record and store their favourite TV shows.

As well as enjoying huge success in the UK with its DVR-FP150 and DVR-FP250 models. In addition, TVonics has designed and is currently supplying an environmentally friendly set-top box for a UK Government-sponsored Targeted Help Scheme which is enabling residents of the North West England town, Whitehaven and surrounding Copeland district, to be the first in the UK to convert from analogue to digital TV broadcasts. This is part of the UK digital switchover scheme which will see all analogue broadcast signals gradually turned off by 2012.

TVonics now plans to take its success in the UK to continental Europe, in particular France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Scandinavia. Expansion into these geographies will commence in late 2007 and enable European consumers to benefit from one of the most user, and environmentally, friendly ranges of DVB-T devices currently available.

Paul Fellows, Founder & CEO TVonics, said: “TVonics products are focussed on the principles of environmental friendliness, attractive design and being easy to use. We believe that these will have a resonance with continental European consumers in the same way as they have in Britain. TVonics is expanding this ethos whilst helping enable digital switchover across Europe at the same time.”
